Goodbye 1982. Hello 1983

Hello Commodore 64 – Released in the UK in early 1983.  And so ensued many a playground argument over whether the C64 or the Spectrum had the best games.  These arguments are still rumbling on today in some quarters.

Hello Nintendo Famicom – Released in Japan in July.  Would later take over the world as the Nintendo Entertainment System.

Hello MSX – Released this year and was ‘an attempt to create unified standards among hardware makers’. Zzzzz...

Games I have never played and am looking forward to are…

Deathchase*
Forbidden Forest*
M.U.L.E.*

*[Later edit] Unfortunately I didn't really get into these games so they didn't make it on the list.

  1. I remember playing M.U.L.E. on the NES. My dad had bought the game for my brother and I, and I recall quite clearly being upset at him for not getting the game we wanted; however, we spent many hours getting good enough at it to beat my dad often.

I'm looking forward to reading more about these older games, as I was too young during that time, and only really started playing games around the Apple II.

  2. I played the Commodore 64 version of M.U.L.E. last night with Mrs "what do I want to play that scabby game for?" Wingnut. Maybe it was good for it's time but I didn't really get into it. I need to give them a bit more time, but Forbidden Forest and Deathchase aren't living up to their classic game status either.
